Thanks to @ben it is now possible to reply to forum threads and messages directly by email.
This means if you are engaged in a forum discussion and receive an email letting you know someone has replied to you all you need to do is hit reply to add to the conversation.
There are a couple of things to bear in mind before replying by email to make sure it gets to the correct place:
- Make sure that you reply to the ‘reply-to address’ this is not the same as the address that the email is sent from (which will be support@carbon.coop). You need to reply to the email address that looks a bit like this: replies+eaf246dhd2da327dcbf2094ca0860c71a@community.carbon.coop. Otherwise it will just end up in our organisational inbox, not on the forum! Some mail clients such as gmail handle this automatically - but if in doubt double check!
- If you reply to a publicly viewable discussion by email, then your response will be publicly viewable. Likewise if you are replying to a private message your message will stay private.
