Wind Monitor for Residential Property

Hi,
Can anyone recommend a wind monitor / weather station that would be suitable for logging data to establish if a remote residential site would be suitable for a residential wind turbine? I assume I need to measure wind speed and maybe direction?
Any options welcome!
Edward

Edward What size of turbine were you thinking of. Ideally you want the wind speed at the hub height. Direction is not important as the turbine should turn into the wind. For commercial development a LIDAR is used but that’s probably overkill for a domestic. I’d try to mount a small anemometers at the height you are thinking of. Ideally collect a year of data.

Hi Edward,
I don’t know if you’re still looking for a solution to this, but we’ve just had returned to us a ‘Power predictor’ a roof mounted device for calculating exactly that. If you’d like to borrow it drop me an email matt@carbon.coop
Many thanks,
Matt

Thanks Matt, I have done a bit of research and concluded wind may not be the way forward, but its good to know that is available now.
