We had our floor done nearly 5 years ago and I have recently noticed the floor -patios door boundary shrink, in a couple of weeks. This I think was caulk put down by the flooring contractor. Silicone used in other places has discoloured and come loose post vacuum cleaner use but is mostly intact. Caulk I used in other places is still there so this is weird but will have to be replaced.
How wide is the gap between skirting and flooring? If it’s more than a few millimetres it might be possible to remove the caulking and replace with a moderately compressible strip of edging cork. Whatever you fill the void with has to be compressible on the assumption that cold damp weather will see the gap shrink as the timber expands, so don’t use caulk again.
That is a good suggestion that I have not considered before. I will look into it as these strips are available @Wickes etc. Thanks
